BIG NEWS!!

Well, its official! We are now home owners!!

We originally put an offer in on a different house, it was smaller but in a better area for an "investment property".  This, however, meant we were sacrificing a lot of things we wanted.  It had a basement suite which was appealing but that meant far less living space for us with only 1140 sq ft upstairs. The inspection came back and it needed a lot of work, expensive work.  It was a tough decision but we walked away from it.

The very next day we went out looking again, and when I walked into this house I knew it was the one! 1600 sq ft not including the basement with a nice back yard, a double garage (for Jon of course), big open kitchen with lots of natural light, an adult living room, kids rec room, office space for Jon's work, 3 bedrooms upstairs and 2 down...it is perfect for us!  Right now there is lots of tacky wood panelling and what we thought was wall paper but is actually just hand-painted to look like wall paper (? don't ask it seems really strange to me!).  But for a quick start with fresh paint and moulding, refinishing the hardwood and painting over the wood for now it will make quite a difference.  This house has so much potential and we get to transform it into what we want...I'm really excited for it.  We will be putting our own sweat equity into it and it will be beautiful!

We decided our first project will be the upstairs bathroom...a gut job!  Sound appealing? Thats life with a carpenter.  This is just the beginning...! I will post some pictures once we get in there.  Before and after pictures are fun :)

We are finally making the plunge to move to Calgary, it has been the plan for years and we are excited for a fresh start and the beginning of our home owning years.  Best of all its so great for the kids they will be only 5 minutes away from Nana and Papa!  We are so thrilled to finally be closer to them. We'll miss our friends in Vancouver but we are only a 1 hour plane ride away, or a 11 hour drive...and we'll make sure to be back lots!  We hope you will come visit us too.

We move June 4- its coming up pretty quick!
